About Green Beetz
Green Beetz is a nonprofit organization with the mission to empower middle schoolers to navigate the complex issues surrounding food in the 21st century.
Green Beetz believes it is crucial to empower young people with the knowledge and information to make better decisions for the health of their bodies, their communities and the planet. Green Beetz is taught to 4th through 6th graders in a classroom setting as well as in after school and camp formats.
Our STEM-based curriculum teaches students to think critically about the modern food system. Teachers are provided “edutainment” videos, hands on activities, Food Detective homework assignments and discussion questions for each lesson.
The curriculum is comprised of four modules, spanning all aspects of the modern food system. The modules are then comprised of ten lessons (each delivered over two 45-minute periods, or one 90-minute period)
